Agroturism and country holidays in the midlands.

Agrotourism and country holidays in the midlands: places with important landscape values thanks to potato and wine crops, covering the northern midlands, especially the western islands. The CoO's importance for a product with such a scale means an alternative, the take off, the recovery, the stability and the beginning of a crop which has been damaged. It is one of the main heritages of soil and landscape. The plenty and continuous presence of plants and flowers in the midlands have influenced in the environment's happiness.

The landscape offers an alternative to Agrotourism and country holidays, being changeable, with special characteristics apart from its climate, on each island. This shapes a spirit with contrasts, all a rage of nature. The canarian soul stirs up, excites, although that suitable serenity shown. The traditional rural cottages passed through the history proud in presence and coexistence with a green landscape, with its wine and potato crops, its cereals, orchards all around: chestnuts, pears, apples, etc.The peasant spirit, the green freshness and the bird's singing: landscapes which could stay by promoting its crops with the CoO, what will keep it like yesteryear. It can still be felt and lived those little stalls, with its potatoes, its local barrel wine, its fruits and vegetables, and the old peoples' good deeds and their never lost hospitality, so characteristic for the canarians. That such important step to make the old Canarian potatoes known, for which struggles the association, knocking from door to door, has carried through to the farmers acknowledgement, whose attitude to preserve enables us to taste so many products. It is time to be enterprising to promote those crop areas, expecting the support of institutions, organisations and companies to this association, to archive such expected and desired aim.

Note:
In Tenerife it is grown the greatest number of old potato varieties, on an area between 600 and hectares (1500 – 2500 acres), followed by La Palma, while on the other island there is only a symbolic presence.
